The title names Yovan S. Plamenatz and Michel Towitch alongside the word "Fish," which gives this plate a more specific label than many others in the National Photo Company group. The record dates it to May 4, 1923, but that date comes from notes on the negative sleeve and has not been independently verified. The National Photo Company was a Washington, D.C., commercial studio whose glass negatives document much of the city's life in the early twentieth century, and Herbert A. French gave this example to the Library of Congress in 1947. The streaks and blemishes visible on the glass are attributed to natural deterioration of the original coatings.
