Dated April 30, 1923, this glass negative shows a flood, though its record does not name the place, and the title written on the sleeve has not been verified. It belongs to a run of consecutive negatives, which suggests the photographer worked through several views of the same event. The National Photo Company, a commercial studio based in Washington, D.C., made news and city views in the early twentieth century, and its negatives reached the Library of Congress as a gift in 1947. Faint streaks and blemishes on the glass come from deterioration of the original coating and are worth noticing.
