A 1917 color lithograph issued under the Knights of Columbus name, this poster ties wartime recruiting to the Catholic fraternal society's public role. Founded in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1882, the Knights expanded their work sharply after the United States entered the First World War in April 1917, supporting Catholic servicemen and sending priests to serve as chaplains. Posters of this kind used religious themes to appeal to Catholic men and their families while encouraging enlistment more broadly. The bottom edge of this copy has been cut, so part of the original design or lettering is missing.
