Few details survive for this negative beyond its title, which points to a streetcar labor dispute in Columbus, Ohio, although the record notes that the label is unverified. The George Grantham Bain News Service, a New York agency, produced many glass negatives like this one while sending photographers to cover breaking news from the 1900s through the 1920s. Transit strikes of that era often pitted workers against private streetcar companies over wages, hours and union recognition, and they regularly drew crowds and police onto city streets. Comparing this picture with the other Columbus views on this board can help place it in the city's history.
