This view shows the School of Law of the National University in Havana, photographed on January 15, 1928, with its caption in Spanish. The university traces its roots to 1728, when the Royal and Pontifical University of San Gerónimo was founded in the city, which makes it one of the oldest centers of higher learning in the Americas. The photograph carries the credit of the Secretaría de Obras Públicas, the Cuban public works office responsible for government buildings in the late 1920s, and it later entered the Pan American Union's collection, which assembled images of Latin American countries.
