This lithograph names the Médoc, the Bordeaux wine district, directly on its face, presenting the Cordial-Médoc liqueur as a product of the house of G. A. Jourde in Bordeaux. Leonetto Cappiello, the Italian-born artist who worked in Paris, designed it, and the Vercasson firm printed it there sometime between 1907 and 1909. The grape motifs reflect how Bordeaux's wine and spirits trade was promoted during those years, when color posters were becoming a central tool of French advertising.
