*Chalk Dust*, a play in 16 scenes with a cast of 40, is the production this poster announces, and it was staged in Cincinnati, Ohio. The poster came out of the Federal theater Project, a branch of the Works Progress Administration that employed out-of-work actors, directors and stagehands from 1935 to 1939. A date stamp of November 27, 1936, on the back places the printing late in that year. Its silkscreen color reflects the process WPA poster artists used because it produced bold, inexpensive runs for public notices.
