The Kaiser automobile pictured here was built by Kaiser-Frazer, a Michigan-based company that launched its first postwar models in 1947 after the end of wartime production halted civilian car making. The front-on view lets the viewer see the car's grille, headlamps and overall profile, the features that marketers of the period hoped would make a new brand stand out in a crowded showroom. Though the caption card records no date or photographer, the 1947 label fixes the moment as the early years of the postwar car boom, when automakers were eager to show off designs they had been developing through the war years.
