Hanging game birds and a counter fitted with a cash register set this Berlin game shop apart, and the record notes that the picture was made especially for the National Cash Register Company. Commercial photographs like this one often served as advertising, showing the company's machines at work in a busy, well-stocked trade. The Detroit Publishing Company made the 8 by 10 inch glass negative sometime between 1895 and 1910, and many similar store views survive from its work.
