Tomaszewski's 1971 Polish poster for Shakespeare's *Julius Caesar* is a color theatrical bill, one of a strong run of Polish stage posters from the 1970s that the Library of Congress holds in its Prints and Photographs collection. Henryk Tomaszewski was among the most celebrated Polish graphic designers of his era, known for posters that reduced a play to a single striking image and minimal lettering. The poster's Polish-language title and its promotional note place it firmly within the country's postwar tradition of theater art, where designers often treated classic texts with bold visual metaphor. Its subject, the assassination of Julius Caesar and the political unrest that followed, made the play a fitting choice for a period of heavy state oversight in Poland.
