Keith's Quick Step, arranged for piano forte by Joseph W. Turner, shows the lithographic cover work of E.W. Bouve of Boston, and the sheet music was copyrighted by the publisher Charles H. Keith. Boston was a leading center of music printing and lithography in the 1840s, and covers like this one helped sell the music while advertising the publisher's name to buyers. Dated to about 1845, the piece reflects the decade when illustrated sheet music became a familiar part of American parlors.
