The title places this scene in front of the National Palace in Mexico City, with bodies and dead horses in the street, but the caption gives February 1933 while the date field reads 1913. The 1913 date fits the subject better, since that February brought the Decena Trágica, ten days of street fighting across the capital during the Mexican Revolution. The picture comes from the George Grantham Bain Collection, a news photography archive, and it shows how press images of the period often recorded the violence in the streets rather than the political leaders behind it.
