Catcher Lou Criger of Boston is shown making a catch, with New York's Willie Keeler at the plate and umpire Silk O'Loughlin nearby. Keeler, a veteran hitter famed for his "hit 'em where they ain't" philosophy, was late in a long career by 1908, when New York's American League club was still known as the Highlanders. Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied news pictures to newspapers, made the negative, and the title and date rest on later research by the Society for American Baseball Research.
