Orlie Weaver appears here as a ballplayer for the Boston National League club, which was known as the Doves in 1911. The picture comes from the Bain News Service, a New York agency that sold news photographs to newspapers and magazines in the early twentieth century, and its glass negatives document the sports and city news of that era. The 1911 date rests on later research rather than a dated caption, so the image is best read as a view of Boston baseball in that period.
