This reflected plan rendering shows the ceiling of the Senate Chamber in the north wing extension of the United States Capitol, printed as a mirror image of the original drawing. Thomas U. Walter designed the extension, and Capt. Montgomery C. Meigs of the Army Corps of Engineers oversaw its construction in the 1850s. The image is a salted paper photoprint, and it survives as a reference copy in an album of Meigs's engineering projects, a record of the work that expanded the Capitol before the Civil War.
