A long, narrow panorama roughly five feet across, this print shows the Century of Progress International Exposition as it appeared along the water on Chicago's lakefront. The fair opened in 1933 on the shore of Lake Michigan to mark the centennial of the city's incorporation, and its buildings were designed to showcase modern architecture, science, and industry. The print was made by Kaufmann & Fabry Co., a Chicago commercial photography firm, and was deposited for copyright in December 1933, the same year the fair opened.
