Imre Kiralfy's *Venice at Olympia* is set in Italy's canal city, and the poster's subject tags point to gondolas and a historical drama. Kiralfy, a Hungarian-born impresario (1845-1919), built his reputation on large staged spectacles that combined crowds, dancing and elaborate scenery, often in exhibition halls rather than ordinary theaters. This 1891 color lithograph was printed by the Strobridge Lithographing Company, a firm known for bold American theater posters of the period, and it was copyrighted under Kiralfy's name.
