Loew's Palace Theater stood on F Street in downtown Washington, and this 1924 view comes from the National Photo Company, whose photographers documented the city's buildings and public life for decades. The caption cards list the theater's interior and its lighting among the subjects, which reflects how movie palaces of the 1920s used decoration and illumination to draw audiences. Loew's was part of a national theater chain, so the building was meant to make moviegoing feel like a special night out. The address appears as both 306 and 1306 F Street on different cards, a discrepancy worth noting.
