The Earle Theater at 13th and E Streets NW is the subject here, a downtown Washington venue photographed in the years when movie houses were becoming a fixture of American city centers. The National Photo Company, a commercial firm that documented Washington streets and buildings for views and postcards, made the glass negative, which the record dates to between 1910 and 1925. The title comes from information written on the negative sleeve and has not been independently verified. Careful viewers may notice streaks and blemishes, which come from the natural deterioration of the original coatings on the glass.
