The Leader Theater, named on the glass negative by the National Photo Company, was photographed in Washington, D.C., around 1921 or 1922, when neighborhood movie houses were spreading through American cities. The company documented the capital's streets and businesses for decades, and its glass plates remain a dense record of everyday commercial life. The title has not been independently verified, so the theater's exact location is worth confirming. Streaks and blemishes on the plate come from the natural breakdown of its original coating.
