Spare our trees" asks Ohioans to protect the trees and leaves that fill the state's woodlands and parks. Issued in 1938 under the Work Projects Administration, it shows how the Federal Art Project used silkscreen printing to carry public messages into towns and schools. Conservation was a frequent theme in these posters, which encouraged care for forests during a decade marked by soil erosion and careless land use. The artist, Morris Katz, is credited on the record.
