Its title, *Todos contra al acaparador* ("Everyone against the hoarder"), frames the message, and a set of pointing fingers aimed at one target makes it plain. Issued in 1937 by the Department of Public Order in Aragón, it belongs to the Republican campaign during the Spanish Civil War against speculators and black marketeers who hoarded food and goods to drive up prices. Shortages in Republican-held territory gave such accusations real force, and the poster's collective gesture asked ordinary citizens to watch their neighbors and report abuses.
