This poster stands out for having no picture at all. Its only content is a line from Shakespeare's *Macbeth*, "Stand not upon the order of your going, but go at once," above the words "Enlist now." Bemrose & Sons, a printing firm with works in Derby and London, produced it for the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee, which was formed in Britain in 1915 to encourage men to volunteer for the army. Britain relied on voluntary enlistment until conscription was introduced in 1916, so posters like this one were a central tool of recruitment. The record gives the date only in brackets, so 1915 is an estimate, but it fits the period when the committee's campaigns were at their height.
