Four rooms on one sheet set this picture apart: the East Room, the Green Room, the Red Room, and the Blue Room, each rendered in color. These photolithographs appeared in the *Washington Album*, a souvenir view book published by Ph. Frey, Louis Glaser, and J. F. Jarvis, and they date to between 1889 and 1893, during Benjamin Harrison's presidency. The formal public rooms were used for receptions and state occasions, and the color printing preserves the furnishings and decor of the period.
