The Ford Motor Company plane pictured here reflects the automaker's brief but consequential venture into aviation in the mid-1920s, when Ford acquired the Stout Metal Airplane Company and developed the all-metal Trimotor. The title comes from information the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve and has not been independently verified, while the 1926 or 1927 date is inferred from neighboring negatives in the same range. Like many glass negatives of this age, the plate shows streaks and other blemishes from the natural deterioration of its original coating.
