A motor car linked to the name Hunt is what sets this glass negative apart, though its title, "Wash. Hunt motor car," comes from unverified data the National Photo Company noted on the negative sleeve. The company worked in Washington in the early decades of the twentieth century and recorded city streets and traffic in large numbers, at a time when privately owned automobiles were becoming a familiar sight on crowded avenues. The 1924 date is inferred from other negatives in the same range, so the owner and exact location remain uncertain. Streaks and blemishes on the glass come from natural deterioration of the original coating.
