The man named in this record is Luis Rodolfo Miranda, listed as a flag bearer in Santiago de Cuba during the island's war against Spanish rule. The card belongs to a folder titled *Recuerdos de la Manigua*, or *Memories of the Wild Countryside*, a phrase that recalls the dense scrub where insurgent troops fought between 1895 and 1898. Printed around 1910, after the Cuban republic was established in 1902, such cards helped keep the war's veterans and national symbols in public view. Its Spanish caption reflects the card's original Cuban audience.
