Mexico, the county seat of Audrain County in Missouri, is the town named on this card, and the view centers on its county courthouse as a civic landmark. The print was made by the Albertype Company of Brooklyn, New York, a firm that produced photomechanical views of towns and public buildings across the country, many sold as souvenirs. The caption card records no date, so the picture can only be placed loosely around the turn of the twentieth century, when the process was popular.
