Titled as the Jasper County Court House, this photogravure shows the building from an angled exterior view, and its caption places it in Joplin, Missouri. Joplin lies within Jasper County, but the county seat is Carthage, so the location is worth checking against other sources. The print dates to about 1904 and was copyrighted by the Albertype Co. of Brooklyn, New York, a firm that reproduced photographs as printed views of towns and public buildings. Photogravure gave such views a soft tonal richness, and courthouses, as symbols of county government, were a frequent subject in these series.
