This view captures the front entrance of the Morris County Court House in Morristown, New Jersey, the seat of county government. It is a photogravure, a process that transfers a photograph to an etched plate for printing, which gave late nineteenth-century publishers a way to reproduce architectural views with fine tonal detail for illustrated volumes and souvenir sales. The caption card credits William K. Muchmore with copyrighting and publishing the print. The record notes that its details are unverified, so the c1895 date should be read as approximate.
