This photogravure shows the Snohomish County Courthouse in Everett, Washington, from both its entrance front and side. Everett was the county seat, and courthouses in growing Pacific Northwest county towns were usually among the most prominent public buildings of their day, signaling local government and permanence. The print was published by Kirk & Seeley of Everett, and its caption card links it to a Dunlop Society series of courthouse views. Photogravure was a fine reproduction process that used etched copper plates to achieve soft tonal detail, so the print reflects both the building and the craft of its time. The caption card gives no date, so the exact year of the image remains uncertain.
