Port Angeles, the Clallam County seat on the northern edge of Washington's Olympic Peninsula, is the setting for this view of its courthouse around 1919. The image was copyrighted by P. Wischmeyer and is cited in the Dunlop Society's courthouse series, which documented county seats across the country. Such buildings served as the civic centers of their counties, housing records, courtrooms and offices, so these pictures show how local government presented itself. The date and attribution come from an old caption card and remain unverified.
