This postcard shows the Rosebud County Court House in Forsyth, Montana, with floodwaters standing around the building, dated June 20, 1918. Forsyth sits on the Yellowstone River in southeastern Montana, where spring and early summer high water could spread across low ground near town. Photographic postcards like this one were often printed to record local disasters, so the image doubles as a document of how a county seat looked during the flood. The date and caption come from an old card and have not been independently verified.
