Lincoln, Nebraska, is the setting here, where a crowd gathered to see President Theodore Roosevelt during his 1903 western tour. The caption calls this one of his audiences, a term for the public receptions where a president met local residents in person. Made as a stereograph, the card was meant to be viewed through a stereoscope, which fused two slightly different views into a single three-dimensional scene. The date and maker come from an older caption card and have not been independently verified.
