Drawbridges and foreign visitors are the two subjects this drawing is catalogued under, with Tokyo as its setting. The record gives 1750 as the date, but the artist's working years (1764 to 1788) and the subject tags (1850 to 1900) do not agree, so the exact period is unclear. Isoda Koryūsai was an Edo-based ukiyo-e artist of the later eighteenth century, known for images of women and city life. The subject tags point to the years after Japan opened to foreign trade, when many visitors recorded the castle-city bridges.
