This 1915 color lithograph advertises an exhibition of Bavarian war booty, with the proceeds going to the Red Cross. During the early years of the war, German cities staged displays of captured guns, helmets, armor, and enemy flags that drew crowds and raised money for relief work. The German word "Kriegsbeute" (war booty) signaled national pride and turned captured military material into public spectacle. The poster's bold design was meant to pull passersby in and encourage them to give.
