The Wilna-Minsk exhibition of antiquities and arts and crafts, announced for June 1918, sets this poster apart from the other wartime sheets in the gallery. Vilna, called Wilna in the German title, was under German military administration at the time, and the poster was issued by the newspaper of the Tenth Army, the German force in the region. Its lithographed design includes flowers and coats of arms, motifs that point to the Belarusian and Polish crafts named in the subject headings. The artist, Fred Hendrick, signed the sheet, which shows how occupying authorities promoted local culture to the public.
