Printed in 1918, this lithograph advertises a permanent exhibition for the Feldgrauer Künstler-Bund, an association whose name refers to *feldgrau*, the field-gray wool that German troops wore in the First World War. The show's organizers presented work by artists connected to the war, and the poster's signature, which the record reads as Philippi with a question mark, points to Munich, a major center of German printmaking and art at the time. The color lithograph's large format, about 121 by 87 centimeters, was typical of the street posters used to draw crowds to exhibitions during the war years.
