Catalogers tagged this glass negative of Quebec City with the subjects recreation and walking, which hints at people out enjoying the streets or the old fortified town. It belongs to the National Photo Company Collection, a body of commercial views made for sale to travelers and collectors in the early twentieth century. Library staff dated it to about 1918 to 1920 based on neighboring negatives in the same range. Viewers should also notice the streaks and blemishes in the glass, which come from the natural breakdown of its original coating rather than from the scene itself.
