The Chateau Frontenac rises above the cliffs of Cap Diamant in Quebec City, and this poster pairs it with Dufferin Terrace, the promenade along the edge below that overlooks the St. Lawrence River. The Canadian Pacific Railway built the hotel to bring travelers to its rail lines, and it opened in 1893 with a steep, copper-roofed silhouette that soon became a symbol of the city. Montreal's Southern Press Limited printed the undated poster, which presents Quebec as a destination of old-world charm reached by train.
