Lake Louise and the resort town of Banff anchor this 1936 Canadian Pacific poster, which places the glacier-fed lake and surrounding peaks at the center of its design. Printed in London and Belfast by S. C. Allen & Company, it was aimed at British travelers considering a trip across the Atlantic and then the Rockies by rail. Banff National Park dates to 1885, and by the 1930s the railway's hotels had made the area a fashionable summer and winter destination. Notice how the artist reduces the mountains and water to bold, flat areas of color, a hallmark of interwar travel posters.
