New Pennsylvania Station was the Beaux-Arts rail hall that McKim, Mead & White designed for the Pennsylvania Railroad, and it opened in 1910 in Midtown Manhattan. These two 8 by 10 inch glass negatives from the Detroit Publishing Company, dated between 1904 and 1920, show the project while construction was still underway, which is why the record lists the construction industry as a subject. The company's photographers traveled widely and sold their views as commercial prints. The station was demolished in the early 1960s, so these plates now preserve a landmark that no longer stands.
