Robert E. Lee's last visit to the grave of Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson came in 1870, in Lexington, Virginia, only months before Lee died that October. Jackson had been buried there in 1863 after dying of pneumonia following wounds he received at Chancellorsville, and the site became a focus of Confederate memory in the years after the war. The print dates from 1872 and carries a copyright entry, though its attribution to Louis Eckhardt comes from an unverified shelflist card.
