Titled as a meeting between President-elect Machado and J.B. Wright at Washington's Union Station on April 15, 1925, this glass negative likely shows Gerardo Machado, who had been elected president of Cuba that year and was about to take office. The station, completed in 1907 in the Beaux-Arts style, was a busy gateway for official visitors, and the National Photo Company, a commercial studio active in the city from about 1907 to 1932, recorded many such arrivals. Streaks and blemishes on the glass come from the natural deterioration of its original coating, so some fine detail has been lost over time.
