A panoramic bird's-eye view of Oklahoma City, taken around 1910, shows the young city from above at a moment of rapid growth. The city had been settled in a single land run in 1889, and by the time this picture was made it was pushing outward across the surrounding prairie. Views like this were popular in the early twentieth century, when photographers used tall vantage points to record a town's streets, rail lines and new buildings all at once. The image is a useful record of how the city's layout looked just after Oklahoma became a state in 1907.
