Paul Strand appears here as a member of the Spokane club in the Northwestern League, a minor circuit in the Pacific Northwest. The record dates the negative to 1912, a year assigned by researchers at the Society for American Baseball Research rather than written on the plate itself. Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied news photographs to newspapers, made the image, which later reached the Library of Congress as part of the George Grantham Bain Collection.
