Torah Kahoum Heidary is the name recorded for this glass negative, dated November 21, 1926, but the National Photo Company's title is unverified, so the identification should be treated with caution. The company worked in Washington, D.C., during the early decades of the twentieth century, producing portraits and street scenes that give a useful picture of the city in that era. Glass plates like this one were the standard medium of the period, and the streaks and blemishes visible on it come from natural deterioration of the original coatings. Herbert A. French gave the plate to the Library of Congress in 1947.
