Two people, Pauline and Ellis Bostrom, are named in the title of this glass negative, which is dated October 14, 1926. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., studio that worked from roughly 1907 to the early 1930s, produced many portraits and street and event pictures during those years. The names come from data the company wrote on the negative or its sleeve, so they have not been independently verified. Glass plates like this one were common in that era, and the faint streaks visible across the surface come from the gradual breakdown of the original coating.
