Its German title, *Bolschewismus bringt Krieg, Arbeitslosigkeit und Hungersnot*, warns that Bolshevism would bring war, unemployment and famine. Printed as a color lithograph in 1918 and credited to J.U. Engelhard, the design was also issued as *Elend und Untergang folgen der Anarchie*, or "Misery and ruin follow anarchy." It reflects the anxiety of many Germans after the defeat of 1918, when revolution and labor unrest unsettled Berlin. Monsters are listed among its subjects, a common propaganda device for casting political opponents as threats.
