Rabbi Emmanuel J. Jack appears in this glass negative dated December 16, 1925, one of the portraits the National Photo Company made of notable figures in Washington, D.C., during the 1920s. The company, founded in 1906, operated a large studio that photographed politicians, clergy, diplomats and everyday subjects, and its glass plates now form a major part of the Library of Congress holdings. The title comes from the company's own records and has not been independently verified, so the name is best treated as the studio's identification. Visible streaks and blemishes on the negative reflect the natural breakdown of its original coatings over the decades.
